The food industry has seen many innovations in recent times. In the early days, homemade food items were preferred as they were considered much healthy than that offered by restaurants. But with the passage of time, people got more and more busy in their lives, and they shift towards the food chains that saves a lot of time and efforts of the consumers. Therefore, a large number of brands or companies have emerged over a period of time that supplies food products of various tastes and flavors. These brands provide the items in proper food boxes which have the capability of performing a dual function. The first is to ensure that the edible items reach the target audience in a safe manner free from any sort of contamination. While the second is to attract the customers due to their pleasing and colorful appearances. Thus, the packing of the items becomes more important than ever. Therefore there is a requirement to apply new techniques and strategies in order to enable the packing to perform the tasks efficiently. Nowadays, there a certain colored circles or squares printed on the containers of the food. They have a specific purpose and importance as described below. Colored circles: The latest printing technologies have allowed the manufacturers to print important and useful information on the containers of food items. The food boxes and packaging includes the details of the nutrients, price of the product, its date of manufacturing, and date of expiry. These details prove to be extremely beneficial for the consumers and are instrumental in building a positive reputation of the brand. But, there are other things i.e., colored circles, on these bags which the customers do not understand and sometimes, even ignore them after seeing as it appears to be meaningless. But it is not valid. In this modern age, each and every millimeter of the material of the packing is important, and nothing useless can be written or printed on them. They are commonly called colored circles but can also be formed in the shape of a square. It is a common tradition that they are in the form of circles on the flexible food bags, but are made into squares on the solid containers, mostly of cereals. They are usually printed below the details of the ingredients of the items inside but certainly do not have any connection with them. They are usually into four colors i.e., cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Printing control patches: These colored circles are the printing control patches. They give a guideline or a parameter to the printers to print them in the assigned colors or by mixing the assigned colors. An extensive range of color themes and color combinations can be obtained by the proper and systematic mixture of the CMYK (cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black). These colors are formed by highly systematic and high profile computer software. The printers check these circles or squares to know which color combination they are supposed to apply. Then, the scanners check the final color combination of the food boxes. If any problem is detected, then the scanner points out the problem, and this packet is sent back and the process restarts. Mostly, this process is entirely automated, but a large number of companies have also employed human labor to recheck the color theme of the containers. They do it by looking at the circles and make sure that the final product is in perfect tint. Importance: The appearance of the containers is of great significance. This display includes the designs as well as the colors of the encasements. The designs are made perfect by using modern technologies. But there is a risk that there might be some sort of changes in the colors due to the fault in the machine or due to the carelessness of the operators. If the food packaging box of the same product belonging to the same brand reaches the target audience in different shades, then it would create doubts in the minds of the consumers regarding the credibility and genuineness of the brand. In this way, the whole reputation of the brand might be tarnished due to this drawback. This whole scenario can be avoided with the help of the colored circles. These circles guarantee that the same color theme and combination are obtained every time. Are they necessary: Most of the consumers do not even know the meaning of the colored patches or circles. Therefore, they are of no significance on the part of the customers. But they ensure consistency in terms of the colors of the containers of the edible items. If the companies are confident of their technologies and processes, then there is no need to print them on the coverings. On the other hand, if they have even a little doubt, then they may use this strategy in order to eliminate the risk of any sort of inconvenience in the future.
